The VAWA filing addresses changed on October 7, 2026

On October 7, 2026, USCIS changed where VAWA self-petitions are mailed. A VAWA I-360 now goes to a USCIS lockbox marked "Attn: 1367", picked by the state you live in. Packages postmarked on or before November 9, 2026 fall within a grace period.

Current as of October 2026. We re-check this page every quarter and after any change in the law.

This post is dated October 26, 2026. The change it describes took effect on October 7, 2026. If you are getting a VAWA self-petition ready to mail, or you mailed one in the last few weeks, read this before you do anything else with the envelope.

Everything below comes from the USCIS page for certain VAWA, T and U filing locations (last reviewed October 7, 2026), the Form I-360 page, and the I-360 direct filing addresses page, as we read them on October 26, 2026.

What changed

USCIS changed the filing location for VAWA self-petitions on October 7, 2026. A VAWA Form I-360 now goes to a USCIS lockbox, addressed "Attn: 1367." That applies whether the abuser is a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.

There are three of these lockboxes: Dallas, Phoenix and Chicago. Which one you use depends on the state you live in, not where the abuse happened and not where the abuser lives. Under the USCIS filing-locations page:

  • If you live in New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania, the VAWA I-360 goes to the Chicago lockbox.
  • If you live in Florida, it goes to the Phoenix lockbox.
  • For every other state, the USCIS page lists the right lockbox. Check it for your state.

The "Attn: 1367" line refers to 8 U.S.C. 1367, the federal confidentiality statute that protects VAWA filings. It is part of the address. Copy it exactly as USCIS prints it.

The grace date

USCIS set a grace period for packages postmarked on or before November 9, 2026. If you mailed your petition to the old location and the postmark falls inside that window, the grace period covers it. After that date, use the new lockbox.

We do not publish what happens to a package postmarked after November 9, 2026 that goes to the old address, because we have not found that answer on a USCIS page. If that is your situation, call a lawyer rather than mailing a second copy on a guess.

Why we link the address instead of printing it

A lockbox address is a string of suite numbers and box numbers. When USCIS moves it, every website that copied it goes stale at once, and a package sent to a stale address loses time. So this site never reprints a filing address. We link the USCIS page and ask you to copy the address from it on the day you mail.

Two more things worth checking on that page the same day:

  • Which address for which form. If the abuser is a permanent resident, the I-360 may be filed together with Form I-485 if a visa number is available, under the USCIS I-360 page. A combined package may have its own instructions. Read them for the package you are sending.
  • The form edition. The I-360 page lists the edition USCIS accepts.

The VAWA I-360 has no government filing fee under 8 C.F.R. 106.2(a)(17)(ii). Nothing about the new address changes that. See our post on VAWA fee exemptions.

What we are not saying

The lockbox is where the package is received. We have not found a USCIS page that names the office that decides VAWA self-petitions, so we do not name one. We also do not publish processing times. USCIS posts its own at uscis.gov/processing-times.

Before you mail anything

USCIS will send notices to the mailing address you put on the form. If the abuser reads your mail, that address matters as much as the lockbox. Our safe filing checklist covers a safe mailing address, a safe phone and where to keep copies. If you are in danger now, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788.

If you already mailed

Keep your proof of mailing and the postmark date somewhere the abuser cannot reach. If your package went to the old address before the grace date, the grace period covers it. If you have a receipt notice, keep it with your copies. If you are unsure about any of it, bring the dates to a consultation at (718) 484-7510. The call is private.

Common questions

Which lockbox do I use if I live in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Florida?

Under the USCIS filing-locations page for certain VAWA, T and U filings (last reviewed October 7, 2026), New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania filers send a VAWA I-360 to the Chicago lockbox, and Florida filers send it to Phoenix. Copy the full address from the USCIS page on the day you mail.

I mailed my I-360 to the old address in October. Is it lost?

USCIS set a grace period for packages postmarked on or before November 9, 2026. If yours was postmarked in that window, it falls inside the grace period. If you are not sure of your postmark date, or you mailed after it, talk to a lawyer about what to do next.

Why does this site not print the address?

Addresses change, and a copied address that is out of date can delay a filing. We link the USCIS page so you always see the current one. The page we rely on is uscis.gov/Certain-VAWA-T-U-Filing-Locations.
